I shook hands with Princess Kate!

After lining up first thing in the morning, running through this crowd to get to the front of the barricade, getting a sunburn that rivals the one I got in Florida after spending the day at the beach without sunscreen, watching people drop like flies from heat stroke all around me and generally being crushed by thousands of people in extremely hot weather for several hours, I got to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge up close and I shook hands with the future Queen of England! It couldn’t have been more worth it. Prince William’s French is adorable and Kate is even more gorgeous in person. They are such a perfect couple.

I take back every time I have ever said or implied that it was boring to live in Ottawa—a crowd of 300 000 people screaming for Will and Kate has proved that wrong, forever. Happy birthday, Canada!
